No, it’s not Toto.  This is 6-year-young “Beans” who was recently released to Cairn Rescue USA by a breeder and after years of producing puppies for others, he is now ready for a home of his own.

Beans is an equal opportunity lover!  He adores people and wants to be with his special someone (and EVERYONE is his special someone!) and is friendly to newcomers that he meets.  He gets along beautifully with the other Cairns in his foster home although he is not above stealing their toys. In one way. however, Beans is very uncharacteristic of his breed:  he is mellow around the squirrels in the backyard!

As a retired breeder, Beans lived outdoors so he was never potty trained. However, he is smart and so eager to please and is already making great strides in that department. His future home will have to be committed to continuing his training and being patient as he learns the ropes.

Beans is crate trained and willingly goes into his crate for a treat… and sleeps quietly through the night.  Such a good boy!

Because he missed out on human companionship the first six years of his life, Beans requires an owner who will be present and make him an integral part of family life. An active retiree or retired couple who enjoy walking or even hiking would be a great fit for this enthusiastic young man.  And because he has had virtually no training throughout his adult life, it’s highly recommended that he go through some basic obedience and clicker training. He is so smart and so eager to please… this would be a wonderful bonding experience for Beans and his new family.  Another like-sized dog and a fenced yard would be two big pluses.

Beans is up to date on all his inoculations and procedures and was recently neutered. Please note that it is the responsibility of the adopting family, once approved, to travel within an hour or two of the Colorado foster home which is located in Loveland.
