About
Oso didn’t get much TLC in his first years, but the life of the handsome six-year-old Cairn terrier mix is looking up. He started his life in a home with other dogs and humans. Cairn Rescue USA rescued Oso from a shelter in Maryland when he lost his home. The owners had all of their animals removed from the home by animal control. According to the shelter, it was a bad situation all around.
Oso’s first step to life with you can be as a foster or a foster to adopt. He’s definitely shown himself to be a people person and has made a lot of growth in the short time he’s been in his current foster home. He’s very people friendly and wants to be near humans and be petted a lot.
And if you need a break from sitting in your home office for hours, Oso is the guy for you. He walks really well on a leash. He loves to look at the humans, other dogs, and SQUIRRELS! If you need to hop on a Zoom meeting, that’s fine too. All he needs is a treat, which he takes very gently, and a couch. He loves being a couch potato, which will give you time to work and Oso time to rest.
Despite being very people friendly and wanting to be near humans and be petted a lot, Oso still needs some help getting used to a loving home. He’s made a lot of progress in his current foster home, but he is still a little fearful with all the changes he’s had in life and needs time to get used to new things – environment, activities, other dogs. He does give a little warning if he’s upset, but that’s just to let you know he’s scared. He’s shown himself to be something of an escape artist and can get up much higher than you’d think. Be careful when you prep your lunch as he can get up to the counter to “share” with you. A tall fence in the yard is required to make sure he doesn’t get out. He’d be best in an all adult home with a loving adopter who works from home or is retired.
At the end of a long workday, wouldn’t it be great to have a couch potato to cuddle with & give scritchies to? If all this sounds good and you can give him the love and attention he deserves, Oso just might be your perfect match. Oso is neutered, heartworm negative, and is on flea, tick and heartworm preventatives.
